HOLIDAYMAKERS were involved in a mid-air scare yesterday after an easyJet plane was forced to make a U-turn and head back after a booze shortage emerged.
Spokesperson for the budget airline said this morning: “We had no option but to make a last-ditch 360 degree turn and head back to the airport where we took off from. It was a dangerous manoeuvre and could have put the whole flight path in jeopardy but we had no alternative.”
It is understood the airline landed safely before cartons of vodka were loaded onto the plane - much to the delight of the 160 passengers.
Airport security said: “It was probably the right thing to do. A plane full of Brits heading to a cheap holiday destination spot without booze could prove catastrophic.”
