Locals express huge relief after former Pop Idol winner Michelle McManus is NOT asked to switch on Christmas lights
LOCALS in a town in Scotland breathed a heavy sigh of relief this morning after town bosses quashed all rumours of the former Pop Idol winner making an appearance to switch on the town centre’s Christmas lights, it has emerged.
Thousands of residents fled in panic with many barricading themselves indoors in fear the celebrity would show up in a festive costume and sing a couple of songs.
Fears for the town’s children and elderly escalated as the rumours circulated.
One local who wished not to be named expressed her fear as she clung tightly to her three children when she told our reporters:
“My kids were petrified. The sight of Michelle in a Santa suit belting out a tune would have been too much for them. They would have had nightmares and suffered long-term psychological trauma.”
It’s not the first time a celebrity appearance has sparked fear into a community at this time of year.
Last Christmas a complete town was evacuated after Peter Andre threatened to turn up and switch on the Burgh’s Christmas tree lights on and mime his one and only hit.
