A 23-year-old Whitechapel man who drank a so-called ‘sensational peach smoothie’ which was advertised as being, ‘the right way to start your day’ was run over and killed by a Number 67 bus at the junction of Whitechapel High Street and Commercial Street yesterday morning.
According to his flatmate, Carter Tracy, the dead man, Toby Dell, a forklift truck driver from Leman Street, had spotted the recipe for the drink online and had made a 2-litre batch the night before his death.
Mr Tracy, also 23, told us: “Toby was really excited about the prospect of starting his day the right way, so it must have been a real blow when he was killed instantly less than an hour after drinking that smoothie.
“It just goes to show that you never know what’s around the corner, so to speak”
This latest tragedy comes less than a week after a woman from neighbouring Mile End was shot in the back and killed by crossfire during a shootout involving rival drug gangs in Bow Road, despite having just eaten a bowl of quinoa porridge which had promised to ‘put a sparkle into the morning commute’.
