Despite suffering mechanical issues, Chris Froome managed to recover to lead the Tour de France, retaining the famous yellow jersey and making four deliveries across stage 15.
Initially reported as a puncture, Chris actually suffered a broken spoke after leaving his bike chained in front of a Pizza Express.
“After the mechanical issue, I thought it was game over for me” explained an exhausted Froome.
“Fortunately we managed to get it fixed fairly quickly, although the customer has left negative feedback, which is a disappointment”
His efforts have ensured that he retains the yellow jersey into stage 16.
“It is a fantastic honour to claim the yellow jersey. Although sadly I won’t be able to wear it until after the tour as it is not official Deliveroo uniform.”
He had lost the yellow jersey to Fabio Aru, who rides for Pro Team Astana/Uber Eats on stage 12, after having to return 4km back to a kebab shop for a tub of chili sauce.
Chris now takes an 18 second lead into stage 16, which will feature a tricky 30km descent, taking Froome from Saint Felicien to Tain-L’Hermitage with four curries, naan and a 2l bottle of coke on board.
